SAG Producer and Actor Sessions with Kathy Byrne and Ann Wilkinson
Enjoy two unique SAG workshops for producers and actors. The first is the “SAG Perspective for Low-Budget Agreements” with Kathy Byrne, and the second is the “SAG Perspective for Actors” with Kathy Byrne and Ann Wilkinson.
As a producer, there are steps you can take to improve the quality and efficiency of your projects. Kathy will give you an introduction to SAG low-budget film agreements. She’ll also go through a special administrative segment called, “No, there’s not too much paperwork!” Kathy will also give you strategies for working with professional performers.
Are you an actor? Are you interested in becoming one? Either way, you’ll find valuable information during this session. Learn about the steps you can take to become a professional actor. Kathy and Ann will explain how to join AFTRA or SAG – and why it’s important for your career. You’ll also learn how to protect yourself and your career while you are a non-union performer.
Kathy is the Director of TV/Theatrical Contracts at the AFTRA/SAG office in Chicago. Ann is a member of the SAG Council, as well as an accomplished casting director and professor at Central College in Pella, Iowa. Both have considerable experience practicing their craft on a national level.
Whether you're an actor, model, singer or other performer, this session will give you cost-effective strategies for applying your own makeup to prepare yourself for a wide variety of situations.
“We’ll show attendees ideas for using makeup to present themselves effectively for interviews, go-sees, auditions, head shots and more,” Doswell says. “We’ll demonstrate how to create basic, clean looks and discuss a full range of applications from being your own makeup artist on a low-budget production to achieving the right look for HD applications and still photography.”
Doswell conducts her engaging, easy-to-follow workshops and practices her craft nationwide. Now you can put in some quality “face time” and learn solid techniques to set yourself apart.
Come to share and learn during a panel discussion with several of our industry’s leaders during the “ACTion! Directors and Actors Panel Discussion” with Marty Jorgensen, Matthew Feeney, Bryant Mock, Jim Brockhohn and Scott Thompson.
As an actor, you work hard to get the part. Once you get it, how do you set yourself apart?
How can you do your part to elevate the production? What are the qualities that can help you land your next role? What are things to avoid?
For directors, what can you do to help actors understand your vision? How can you create an environment where you get the best performances in the fewest number of takes? What are the things you can do to make sure you and the cast are reading off the same page?
Join this lively discussion and share ways of making the key roles of actor and director shine together for your next show!
The right effects at the right time can amplify the power of your production and take its emotional impact over the top. Join Paul Steffensen of Dane Art Studios (www.daneartstudios.com) for this insightful discussion about special effects.
Hear Paul’s experiences and see some examples of the effects he’s created. You’ll also learn how Paul goes about creating and planning for effects in a production.
Paul started in the film industry in 1987 and has worked on numerous films, made-for-TV movies, local & national TV commercials and music videos. He has extensive knowledge in art direction, set design & construction, custom props, storyboarding and special effects. His credits include PBS, Hallmark TV, Discovery Channel, Pepsi, Iowa Lottery & PowerBall and independent films. Paul was nominated for an Emmy® for the Hallmark movie Harvest of Fire.
Don't miss this fantastic opportunity to learn more about adding effects to your project.
When the lighting for a project is “on,” it accentuates the production and adds the right accent to set a mood, enhance an emotion and drive home a point. But when it’s “off,” it can become detracting.
Join Jon Van Allen, a veteran of countless productions of all sizes for this rare look at the latest trends, techniques and tools you can use to make your production more professional – and ultimately more effective.
The tools of the trade are, of course, continually evolving and changing.
Wouldn’t it be nice to get up close and personal with a few of them – and hear firsthand what they’re like in action – to be able to get the inside scoop on their pros and cons?
This is your chance. Learn more about the new generation of cameras – and those who use them. Kent Newman will talk about the JVC GY-HM700U; Dan Welk will give you more details on the Canon 5D Mark II; Paul Hickey will cover the RED camera.
Cameras are often chosen for image and sound quality, but postproduction workflow needs to be considered as well. How do you make your way through what can be the uncertain world of post-production?
Veteran editor Roger McGregor of 1Digital will have his Mac Pro Final Cut rig on location to compare and contrast the benefits and challenges of each platform for postproduction.
Kent Newman will help address post work flow with the JVC GY-HM700U; Andrew Roger with the Canon 5-D; and Paul Hickey with the RED.
