New IMPA Officers and Directors Announced The Iowa Motion Picture Association (IMPA) is pleased to announce the results of its 2011 officer and board elections. New officers were chosen at a July 13 board meeting at the non-profit organization’s headquarters in Des Moines; and directors were selected during the April 23 IMPA Awards at Stoney Creek Inn, Des Moines. Jay Villwock The IMPA Board of Directors elected Jay Villwock, Des Moines, to the position of President. Villwock has been a radio and television news reporter, as well as an actor in feature and short films. His goals as president include offering more services to the membership, including career development assistance, and promoting the creation of a State film office with adequate staff, along with an up-to-date production guide. Eric Dean Freese Eric Dean Freese, Cedar Rapids, has been elected to his first full term as Vice President. He was previously elected Vice President in 2010 to fill the unoccupied office. Freese is a freelance director of photography and has worked in commercials, corporate videos, and feature and short films. Freese was co-director of the Cedar Rapids Independent Film Festival for seven years. He also chairs the IMPA Marketing Committee. Deb O'Bryan Deb O’Bryan, Des Moines was elected to a second term as Treasurer. She holds an MBA in accounting from Drake and is a Certified Fraud Examiner. O’Bryan has worked in filmmaking in various roles from production assistant to writer to producer for movies and television, and works as a production accountant. She is a freelance writer and serves on the board of the Iowa Scriptwriters Alliance. Andrew Erickson Andrew Erickson, Des Moines, has been elected Secretary. He is President of YourGameNow.com, a producer of television, games and other special events for air on local network and cable stations. In addition to these four officers, IMPA 2011-2012 board members are: Kent Newman, Des Moines (Immediate Past President); Jim Barefoot, Dubuque; Susan Barnabo, Des Moines; Jim Brockhohn, Forest City; Stephen Jennings, Winfield; Jerry Johnson, Storm Lake; Bryant Mock, Norwalk; Jolene Pfaff, Des Moines; Craig Schaefer, Dubuque; Gale Smetana, Cedar Rapids; Paul Steffensen, Des Moines; and Jon Van Allen, Cedar Falls. Shirley Long and Dave Danielson, Des Moines, serve as Ex Officio and Program Director, respectively.
